How to Dress a Hockey Player

Full gear is required for all players, whether in LTPH or registered for a full season. New gear can be purchased in Anchorage at Champions Choice or visit Play it Again Sports, they sell both new and used gear. MHA offers quick-change goalie gear for all 8U teams so that players can try out the position without the burden of additional costs. Also, specializing at such a young age is not recommended by USA Hockey and the ADM Model. Players should try out all the positions during these early development years. Established tenders can purchase new gear in Anchorage at Champions Choice. JERSEYS are purchased as a team. Team Managers will either direct you to order, purchase, and pick up your own jerseys (white/home; blue/away) and socks in Anchorage, or they will collect the information and submit an order as a team. Ordering as a team does not guarantee delivery, you may still be required to pick up your player's jersey. The preferred process will be shared via email or first team meeting, as soon as possible after rosters are set. Sizing can be done at the store or with sample jerseys, from other players, your coach may opt for a sizing event, or sometimes at walk-in registration. Jersey's are optional for 6U.

Players get to choose their own jersey number. If two players want the same number, the player with seniority gets preference. If seniority is equal, the player with the earlier birth-date gets the number. Some Competition Teams will also require the purchase of other gear like warm-ups, practice jerseys, shorts, bags, etc.
